Characteristics of Tungsten

Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals. The modulus of elasticity is also very high. The mechanical properties are comparable to those of molybdenum but W has even higher values.
Tungsten has the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of 4.5 microns/(m-K) (at 25 °C of all metals).
Tungsten has good corrosion resistance to acids and liquid metals
Due to the high density, tungsten has very good shielding properties against X-rays and gamma-steels
